About us

We founded JustForward to provide training and consultation to support organisations, teams and individuals to develop the will and the skill to respond wisely in psychologically demanding situations.

Over the past twenty years we have worked in psychological practice across a range of settings including healthcare and criminal justice (prisons, secure hospitals, law enforcement, probation and youth justice), local authorities and the charity sector, creative arts and the corporate sector.

We have worked with many incredible practitioners over the years, and maintaining such relationships is central to what we do. We have both stayed connected to people who have had a formative influence on our practice and we continue to work on a range of projects with different applied psychologists. Because we have worked across many different sectors, nationally and internationally, we have strong multi-disciplinary connections and continue to collaborate when required.

Alongside our work at JustForward, we hold academic positions at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology, and Neuroscience, King’s College London, where we teach and carry out applied psychological research.

Our approach

At JustForward we provide creative psychological consultancy and training. We use evidence-based psychological knowledge, clinical insight and philosophical approaches to understand people in their context. We are accredited Spotlight practitioners and we integrate the Mindflick Spotlight profiling tool into our practice, when required.

We have come to see that whatever someone’s situation, be that in the board room, a prison or in the public eye, the same human needs are always there. We all need connection. We all need to have a sense of belonging and meaning in life. And we all need to have a sense of identity.

Because of this, we take time to listen, to understand what matters and to work in a way that feels thoughtful and real.

Whether we are working with an organisation, a team or an individual, our approach is shaped around you and what you need in that moment.

                                                                                     Our ethos centres on:

Social Justice

We set aside free training days for causes close to our hearts. Each time you invest in your own psychological development, you are also helping others.

Philosophical Roots of Applied Psychology

As an antidote to pop psychology, we draw on the deep philosophical roots of psychology, combining rigorous thinking with practical applications.

Context and Identity

We enhance performance and wellbeing by understanding the contexts and life experiences that shape behaviour, identity and connection.
